Chrom3, who is a two-time collaborator of Dizzee Rascal, most notably on the no.1 smash ‘Holiday’; comes with a timely track addressing the rising levels of knife crime in London and throughout the UK. (Manchester is still reeling of a report this week, of a 20 year old woman fleeing the 5 star Hilton hotel with a 3 inch knife wound to her throat.) The track is a poignant reminder of the perils of giving into the temptation of carrying a knife, as the only option of protection our youths feel is available to them, in an effort to defend themselves from their perceived enemies. Chrom3 also explores the heart-breaking consequences of using a knife to end a life, as mothers weep for their slain sons snatched from them prematurely.
Chrom3’ lyrics sow the seeds of the sign of times in which we live, and contains extra impact as they cut through a slightly disjointed violin, pensive piano’s and biblical background vocals. The track is tense, aptly matching the intensity of the violence we’ve witnessed in recent times among young adults. Chrom3 succeeds in bringing a bold video which echoes his bravery in tackling such a sensitive subject.
