If this smooth as silk instrumental sounds familiar that’s because it was revisited on the return to Grime roots album ‘Godfather’ by Grime stalwart Wiley. Beat master Kid D crafted a wifey riddim which sounds current giving us girls something to sway to whilst finding ourselves swept away on the waves of nostalgia as he skilfully samples one of the best 90’s R&B girl groups’ in the world, SWV. Kid D aka 2 Eazy allows SWV’s vocals from their epic track ‘You’re always on my mind’ to glide and float alongside his production as he chops their saccharine sweet vocals and sprinkles them like sugar over kissable kicks, sexy snares, heartfelt hi hats, plush piano and bombastic bass all segueing to make a potion consisting of clean cut 90’s vibes with the thrilling edge of the 21st century stirred in for contrast and dense texture.
Kid D’s instrumental gives off dazzling white (silk) sheets blowing in a spring breeze on your washing line vibes on one level but on another level the instrumental also gives off a – I know you’re tempted to find out how much of a freak I can be between these sheets vibe making this instrumental a double coned ice cream of strawberry topped with cherry syrup and coffee with grated pistachio nuts to finish.
