These Boots are made for running: NoLay ‘Run up’ *NEW* Video

The unorthodox daughter of Grime and boss bish in general NoLay drops her third video from her phenomenal debut album ‘This Woman’ which is packed full of bad gyal riddims and honest antidotes detailing thirsty men and the expectations sometimes thrust upon women, her rightful place at the top of Grime’s throne alongside the mandem and the journey she has taken to get there; making the album ‘This Woman’ not only relatable but also empowering to women everywhere from all walks of life, in its celebration of womanhood.

NoLay’s third single and video ‘Run up’ which succeeds her equally powerful visuals for the singles ‘Dancing with the devil’ – a bitter tale of domestic violence which sees NoLay relay the tale from the victim’s perspective, and ‘Marching’ which sees her lead a troupe of female dancers, in a tightly choreographed routine, whilst NoLay is upfront finessin’ in a furry blue coat (Moschino?) looking fierce AF spitting bars like “I am the f*cking baddest, if not bring the baddest let me body her with malice.”

Newly signed artist NoLay continues to revel in her well-earned status as a veteran of the Grime and UK rap scene by proclaiming “Rah I am a motherf*ckin’ star…” (A quick flick through her back catalogue since 2005 will testify to that claim.) Clad in the buffest boots I’ve seen this year stretching up to her thighs, a corset belt, a bright orange bomber jacket and a vest top struggling to contain her assets which “cause a lot of man stress;” Nolay is not here to play, she looks as bad ass as she sounds with her no-nonsense statements of “Now, bow down to the illest by far, the strap kicks like a student from a class of martial art” As I watched the video for the first time I couldn’t help but think – NoLay strutting around in her blonde bobbed wig reminded me of a modern-day Bonnie who had ditched her Clyde, because he was slowing her down and she had shit to do, leaving her no choice but to abandon him; we are in the era of the remake after all maybe ‘Bonnie, bun Clyde’ could be a future film release for the lyrical titan.

Peep NoLay’s video for the single ‘Run up’ below, while you’re all busy watching that, I’ll be busy adding those thigh high boots to my Christmas wish list, forget the stocking fillers this year, just give me those boujee boots!
